We’re approaching the “holiday break” of the NCAA Basketball season, a 10 day period where there aren’t many games to watch overall. Players are going home to spend time with their families, finishing finals and playing “buy games” to get ready for the start of conference play.

So don’t expect too much, and with moe covid issues arriving, that may be the proper timing so things can get worked out. Now while there won’t be meant results that’ll impact Bracketology in the next week, we can still look back on this past week and see who made the best of the available opportunities.

Here are my 10 biggest Bracketology Winners of the past week.

Dayton Flyers

One of the most fascinating resumes to observe, considering that they started out the season as one of the most disappointing teams in the country. Losses to Austin Peay, Lipscomb, and UMass-Lowell are all Quad 3 or 4 losses going forward, all of which are at home.

Dayton looked dead in the water until the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament, where they defeated Miami, Belmont, and top 5 Kansas to get a trio of massive resume builders. That victory alone took away 1-2 of those awful losses and helped them get back into the at-large picture.

This week on Sunday, the A-10 program defeated Virginia Tech, currently in the top 25 of the NET Rankings and one of the best teams in the ACC. That’s going to be the second-best win on Dayton’s resume and could prove pivotal in their hopes of getting an at-large bid. They did fall to Mississippi this weekend but it won’t hurt them much. Now they have to get the job done in league play, which will be tough for the talented, yet inconsistent program.
