As the month of December comes to a close, who were the biggest NCAA Basketball recruiting winners in recent weeks?

While the month of December may not have been as action-packed compared to previous months for NCAA Basketball recruiting, there were still a few notable commitments that occurred across the last month. Because of this, there was one clear recruiting winner across NCAA basketball for the month of December, the Duke Blue Devils.

The Blue Devils added a total of two commitments during the month of December to add to their already top-ranked 2022 class with the headliner being five-star wing Mark Mitchell, the nation’s No. 15 overall player who committed to Duke back on December 10.

Attending Sunrise Christian Academy (KS), Mitchell is rated as the No. 1 overall player in the state of Kansas, as well as the No. 4 small forward nationally. An athletic and versatile forward at 6’8, Mitchell excels around the basket offensively, as well as a player who can guard multiple positions both in and outside the paint.

In addition to Mitchell, Duke also added the sixth commit of their 2022 class only days later on December 14 in three-star center Christian Reeves from Oak Hill Academy (VA). The No. 10 ranked player in the state of Virginia, Reeves is a true center at 7’1 and joins the nation’s No. 1 overall player Dereck Lively II and five-star Kyle Filipowski to compose an impressive class down low for the Blue Devils.

In addition to Duke, the other big winner during December was Texas Tech as the Red Raiders added a commitment from three-star guard Lamar Washington on December 23 to add to one of the best 2022 classes in the Big-12. Washington attends AZ Compass Prep (AZ) where he is currently rated as the No. 169 overall player in the country, as well as the No. 20 shooting guard nationally.
