2. Richmond Spiders (9-4)

The Spiders have some good momentum heading into conference play, now on a six-game winning streak. Some were close calls but the veterans on the roster were able to pull through, finishing a competitive slate that has no bad losses but also no meaningful wins of note.

Richmond is still set up to succeed in league play, thanks to breakout star Tyler Burton (18.8 ppg and 7.0 rpg). He and big man Grant Golden (16.2 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 3.5 apg) is the best duo in the conference, while guards Nick Sherod and Jacob Gilyard (10.4 ppg and 6.5 apg) have been playing very well in the month of December. This team has the star power at the top and overall depth to win the A-10 but also has to prove that they indeed can win against the top-tier.

1. Davidson Wildcats (10-2)

After a 1-2 start to the season, the Wildcats has since won nine straight games to have the best record in all of the Atlantic 10. But what jumped them to the top spot was the upset win over Alabama, a game that came together on short notice after Colorado State went on pause.

Star wing Hyunjung Lee had 17 points in that game but it was 21 points from Michael Jones, 22 from Luka Brajkovic, and 11 points and eight assists from Michigan State transfer Foster Loyer that helped set up the victory. And add the 5th starter in Sam Mennenga, you have a starting lineup that on paper, can compete with the likes of St. Bonaventure and Richmond.

Davidson has always had a talented team on paper, including the past four years having Kellan Grady. But for some reason or another, they underachieve once league play starts. Maybe this year is different for the program but one thing is for sure, they can compete with the best of the A-10 with Lee leading the way.
