Notre Dame shooting from 3 point range

Notre Dame was able to make 13 three point fields goal on the night. It is no secret that Notre Dame has a lot of shooting on its roster and is capable of doing damage from downtown. The thing is most of the year they have not done a lot of damage from three-point, or at least consistently which is a key reason why they have five losses through their first 13 games of the season. When you make 13 three point field goals you are going to find yourself winning a lot of those games, or at least in them down the stretch in crunch time.

Yes, Notre Dame is not going to make that many threes every game, but it is nice to know they have the firepower to do that on the offensive end of the floor. Mike Brey and the staff only go about seven deep so they rotate their two forwards in Nate Laszewski and Paul Atkinson Jr. On offense, this works in Notre Dame’s favor because it allows them to space the floor and really work the ball around the perimeter against bigger teams like North Carolina.

The game plan for Notre Dame really was well executed in bringing the big men out of the paint for the Tar Heels. Armando Bacot and especially Brady Manek seemed to be very uncomfortable coming out guarding Nate Laszewski beyond the three-point line. Laszewski was able to make them pay by knocking down a team and season-high six three-point field goals.

Cormac Ryan made three clutch three-point field goals coming off the bench. Ryan is fitting into his role off the bench really nicely over the last few games. Blake Wesley added two three-point field goals, while Prentiss Hubb and Trey Wertz added one each from three-point range. I probably jinxed the Irish shooting from three-point range in their next game, but it was an impressive night shooting for Notre Dame and had to be acknowledged.
