As the calendar has turned towards January, we’re nearly two months into this college basketball season. We’ve already begun conference play after thrilling weeks of non-conference play. There has been plenty of excitement in college basketball, even as COVID pauses have thrown a major wrench into scheduling. Despite this, a number of teams are still taking advantage of their opportunities to stand out, and some of those programs just happen to be from Big12 Basketball.

Though the league has just ten teams, the Big 12 is one of the best college basketball conferences in the nation. One of their programs just won the national championship last year, and it’s a conference that regularly sends at least half of their teams to the Big Dance. Four of the ten teams have been in the Final Four since 2016 and the rest of the league is full of teams that have had dynamic moments as well, even for those programs currently struggling.

With these thoughts in mind, we’ll be taking a closer look at the ten teams in the Big 12, making an attempt to rank them as they currently stand. We’ll be looking closely at how these teams fared during nonconference play and now in the first week of Big 12 action. Clearly, we are ranking the skill and ability of these teams, we’re not simply copying the current standings.

It’s very likely that things will change and the order of the teams will be jumbled in the coming weeks, but this is where things currently stand in the Big 12, a league that should again send half a dozen teams to the NCAA Tournament.

Without any further ado, let’s jump right into the rankings, starting at the bottom and working our way towards that team sitting at #1 in the nation.
