More than 1,800 Division I men’s NCAA basketball players tested the waters of the transfer portal in the 2020-21 cycle. The number of names in the portal for the 2021-22 cycle just recently broke 100, but that number will grow rapidly towards the end of this season and into the start of the offseason.

Now that we know what is about to hit us, we can get ahead of the 2021-22 transfer cycle while the number is still relatively low.

Here are the top 15 transfers who are either in the portal or have already committed for the 2022-23 college basketball season.

15. Travion McCray, Western Carolina

Info: 6-1, 181 lbs., SG, So.

2021-22 stats: 11.3 PTS, 5.3 REB, 3.4 AST, 39.6 FG%, 11 GP

McCray averaged 11.3 points through 10 games for Western Carolina to start this season. That puts him second on the team in scoring, although he only started in three of those 10 games played. McCray has deep range as a shooter and has shown an ability to elevate his game against high-major competition, scoring 20 points against Georgia in his final game for the Catamounts back on Dec. 20.

14. DeAnthony Tipler, Coastal Carolina – EAST TENNESSEE STATE

Info: 5-10, 175 lbs., PG, Jr.

2020-21 stats: 13.4 PTS, 2.5 REB, 41.0 3P%

Tipler averaged 13.4 points for Coastal Carolina in the 2020-21 season. He is a dead-eye shooter, making 44 3-pointers on 41.0% shooting in just 16 games for Coastal Carolina last season. Before his time in Conway, South Carolina, Tipler spent two seasons at Northeast Mississippi Community College. He heads to East Tennessee State with two full years of eligibility remaining.
