Big Ten Basketball power rankings: Rutgers falls while Michigan moves up
Big Ten Basketball is starting to get real interesting, especially at the top. At this point, everyone has lost at least one game at the top of the standings, with several of those teams playing one another in some epic clashes.
Meanwhile, the middle group had some results that were both positive and negative for the Bracketology of the Big Ten. And with Nebraska and Michigan both back on the court, the hope is that the covid-related issues are all but over in the conference.
After everyone got a rare day off collectively, several Big Ten Basketball games will be back on Tuesday. Here are the latest power rankings for the league, starting at the very bottom.
Among the power five conferences, there are just two teams without a win in league play. One is the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC and the other is Nebraska, now 0-8 in the Big Ten and just two of them coming in single-digits. The latest was a 78-71 loss to Indiana, led by 20 points from Bryce McGowens and 19 from Alonzo Verge.
Something notable from that game for the Cornhuskers was the return of Trey McGowens, who had missed the last six weeks due to an injury. He played 21 minutes and scored seven points off the bench.
After 10 days off due to covid issues, Nebraska looks to get back on the court and into the win column, taking on Wisconsin and Rutgers at home, part of a five-game stretch that has four of them at home. If they can’t get a win in one of them, then there could be a chance that the Cornhuskers could indeed go winless in league play.
