St. John’s at Villanova: 2021-22 college basketball game preview, TV schedule

Villanova faces St. John’s in a battle of offense versus defense. Can the Red Storm pull off the upset in Big East this Big East matchup?

The St. John’s Red Storm go into this game with a record of 11-7 on the season. Their seven losses on the season have come against Providence, Seton Hall, UConn, Kansas, Pittsburgh, Indiana, Creighton.  Their best win has come against Seton Hall.

Offensively, St. John’s is led by Julian Champagnie. Champagne is averaging 19 points on 42 percent shooting. Another notable scorer for the Red Storm is Posh Alexander. Alexander averages 15 points per game on 49 percent shooting. St John is averaging 80 points per game on the season. That is good for 11th in the nation when it comes to points per game.  Finally, St’ John is averaging 18 assists per game. That is good for 3rd in the nation.

The Villanova Wildcats go into this game with a record of 15-5. Their five losses on the season for the Big East juggernauts have come against UCLA, Purdue, Baylor, Creighton, Marquette. Their best win of the season has come against Tennessee.

Offensively, the Wildcats are led by Collin Gillespie. Gillespie averages 17 points on 45 percent shooting. Another notable scorer for Villanova is Justin Moore. Moore averages 15 points on 43 percent shooting.  The Wildcats have one of the best defenses in the country.
