While Saturday may have been just another day for some teams and conferences across college basketball, it was an exciting one that (no pun intended) just meant more for SEC Basketball and its fans.

A conference that may mainly be known around the country for its dominance on the gridiron or diamond, SEC Basketball as a league has continued to rise in recent years, adding more depth and excitement to the league with teams such as Auburn, Alabama, and Arkansas emerging alongside recent SEC-power Kentucky.

While conference play is off to an exciting start headlined by the current run of top-ranked Auburn alongside various other storylines, the SEC paused in-conference play on Saturday for this year’s annual edition of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.

One of the premier conference vs conference events in college basketball, the Big 12 owned the early days of the showdown, but the SEC has controlled the head-to-head in recent years by winning the last two. If you watched any of the games today as well, that run continued this year as the SEC won this year’s SEC/Big 12 Challenge 6-4.

An impressive day for SEC Basketball, here are five takeaways from Saturday’s SEC/Big 12 Challenge from the SEC’s point of view.
