Missouri needs greater production from Kobe Brown

Sure, we could rehash the clock management conversation from Missouri’s last home game, but the truth of the matter is, I don’t believe it was all that impactful this week (or even last week).

Since Brown’s 30 point performance in the Tigers’ home win against No. 15 Alabama, he has had single-digit point totals in six of seven games. For a team that has only won when Kobe has scored ten or more points, he has to make a bigger impact in games.

You certainly don’t need, nor should you expect, spectacular performances from Brown every night. Furthermore, everyone will have a bad night, and I don’t think that should necessarily be held against a player. However, I don’t think it is unreasonable to ask for Kobe Brown to average double-digit scoring.

That has only happened twice since SEC play got underway (the only two wins in conference play). Opposing teams’ defenses certainly can play a role in decreased production, but Brown also needs to be able to find holes in the defense.

In all fairness, this is around the time last season that Kobe Brown’s game started heating up for the Tigers. However, until the returning starter for Missouri can become more consistent, it’s going to be a long February in Columbia.
