Now in the middle of February, Bracketology has become more important a topic than ever. Next week, we’ll have the annual top-16 overall seeds revealed from the Selection Committee to start out the Saturday slate of games.

We have a good idea who most of those 16 teams will be but there’s time for some to get a massive win or two to sneak up for a top-4 seed in a respective region for the NCAA Tournament. Of course, there are also some who could go the opposite way and take a bad loss to fall out of position.

That’s what some teams, unfortunately, had to deal with this past week. Some went from a great position to now a “good” spot, while others may have played themselves out of a certain seed or even the bubble entirely. Here are the biggest Bracketology losers overall from the past week, including a few honorable mentions.

Honorable Mention: Loyola-Chicago Ramblers – 18-5 (9-3 in MVC)

The Ramblers have been playing with fire the last few weeks, having gone 4-3 in their last seven games. The first two (Drake and Missouri State) weren’t bad losses at all but falling at Bradley is a bit rougher. The Braves have been on a run as of late and are in the top-100 of the NET currently but still, Loyola has gone from completely safe to around the 9-10 seed range and can’t afford a bad loss coming up. But if they can either beat Northern Iowa once or just avoid losing to the other teams, they should be fine.

Honorable Mention: San Francisco Dons – 21-6 (8-4 in WCC)

The Dons had three games this week, beating Pepperdine and getting a Quad 1 victory over Santa Clara on the road Saturday. However, a Quad 4 home loss to Portland on Tuesday is an ugly blemish on a resume that saw them fall into the 10-11 seed range. San Francisco can ill-afford to do that again and next week’s road trip to Saint Mary’s now becomes an important matchup for both sides.

Honorable Mention: Florida State Seminoles – 13-11 (6-8)

The Seminoles probably don’t even need to be mentioned but after beating Miami twice and then Duke, they had a legit at-large resume at one point. But injuries have decimated the roster to a point where winning any ACC game is now a question. And if there was a glimmer of hope entering the week, a home loss to Pittsburgh takes that all away. With a current six-game win streak, Florida State’s postseason hopes will have to start over again next season.
