Players to Watch

Antoine Davis

Antoine Davis is arguably the best player in the Horizon League. Davis is third in the nation in scoring, averaging a remarkable 23.7 PPG. The senior guard has the potential to completely take over the game any night of the week and has done so multiple times this season. In a win over Milwaukee on January 22nd, Davis tallied a career-high 39 points. The Birmingham, Alabama native is in his senior year with Detroit Mercy and has clear aspirations of willing the Titans to an NCAA tournament berth.

Tanner Holden & Grant Basile

Wright State finished the regular season 3rd in the Horizon League. Much of their success is credited to substantial offensive performances from Tanner Holden and Grant Basile. Holden, a 6-foot-6 guard from Ohio, averages 19.9 PPG and 7.1 REB. He shoots slightly over 50% from the field and 35.1% from beyond the arc. Basile anchors the paint for the Raiders. He averages 18.3 PPG and 8.5 REB. Wright State’s success will be directly correlated to how far these two can take them. These two are going to be hard to stop in the Horizon League Tournament.

Jamal Cain

After playing the first four years of his collegiate career at Marquette University, Jamal Cain decided to use his final year of eligibility at Oakland University. He has been an unstoppable force all year long in the Horizon League. Cain averaged a double-double, 20.1 PPG, and 10.2 REB.

Oakland finished the regular season 5th in the Horizon League, however according to the WynnBet odds they have the second-highest chance of winning the tournament behind only Cleveland State. If Cain is able to string together a series of strong performances, Oakland may be able to earn a bid to the NCAA tournament.

D’Moi Hodge

Cleveland State is in first place in the Horizon League for a reason. One of those reasons is D’Moi Hodge. The 6-foot-4 senior guard from the Virgin Islands has been key for the Vikings all season long on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Hodge, who averages 15.4 PPG, has put together numerous monster offensive performances this year.

He tallied 27 points against Canisius and eclipsed 30 points on three separate occasions versus Oklahoma State, Youngstown State, and UIC. He also averages 2.29 steals per game, which is good enough for 13th in the country. Hodge is a player to keep your eye on in the Horizon League Tournament.
