Arkansas vs Tennessee: 2021-22 college basketball game preview, TV schedule

It’s a battle of top-15 nationally ranked SEC Basketball programs when Tennessee and Arkansas face off. Who has the advantage?

TV schedule: Saturday, March 5th, 12:00 pm ET. ESPN

Arena: Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee

The Tennessee Volunteers began the season with a challenging start. They played No. 5 Villanova and fell (71-53). After this loss, the Volunteers started to gain momentum as they went on a four-game win streak. The matchup between Texas Tech and Tennessee was an excellent test for the Volunteers as well as the Red Raiders. Tennessee fell to Texas Tech in overtime (57-52).

Games like this are important for all teams to endure throughout their season because these are the type of games that make up March Madness. Tennessee had to make a choice after this game, are they going to roll over or are they going to stand up and prove that they are here to compete.

It is important for teams to be tested and people do not understand the significance of the strength in schedules. In preparation for March, I will look at the team’s strength in schedule, I do not care about seeds. That is where people get led astray by thinking that a No.16 seed can’t knock off a No.1 seed. (2018 UMBC stunned Virginia in the first round).

With that being said, Arkansas has a pretty significant schedule as well but hasn’t had any nail biters. The SEC is a top contender in the NCAA tournament this year. Auburn, Alabama, Kentucky, and LSU are all playing exceptionally well. Arkansas’ biggest win so far is against Auburn and Kentucky.

It was after the loss against Vanderbilt, they decided to pull together and make a statement in their conference. Arkansas has four players averaging points in double digits. JD Notae is someone that will try and disrupt the Volunteers’ defense on Saturday.

This is going to be an incredible game to watch. It’s going to be a close one, to say the least. It may even come down to the wire. However, Tennessee has an incredible group of guys that will look to set things straight moving forward. Stressful situations are not something that Tennessee isn’t familiar with. The Tennessee Volunteers will handle Arkansas in TBA to remain undefeated at home.
