With the calendar turning to March and the conference tournaments are on the horizon, the Big Ten Basketball teams are no longer thinking about the unsuccessful March they had last year. Their tournament performance as a conference last year is not even as much of a concern as the fact that they are the fourth-ranked conference in terms of RPI. Prior to the Big Ten Tournament tipping off, there are eight Big Ten teams in the top 50 of the NET with four of them being in the Busting Bracket’s top 25 Power Rankings.

The Big Ten Preseason Media Poll had the Michigan Wolverines winning the Regular Season Championship and the Wisconsin Badgers finishing in the tenth spot. The current bracketology does not predict any Big Ten member getting a No. 1 seed come Selection Sunday, but Wisconsin, Purdue, and Illinois should all earn at least a No. 4 seed.

The 2022 Big Ten Tournament is going to feature talented seven-footers in Kofi Cockburn, Zach Edey, and Hunter Dickinson and dangerous scorers in Johnny Davis and Jaden Ivey. The Iowa Hawkeyes led the Big Ten in scoring this season despite losing Big Ten leading scorer Luka Garza, as the Rutgers Scarlet Knights boast the conference’s top defense.

The Big Ten Tournament will reflect the regular with respect to the fact the wins and losses are going to come down to the matchups, especially with the lack of home-court advantage. With three teams tied at 12-8, two teams at 11-9, and with three teams tied at 7-13, seedings can be thrown out the window as the matchups will determine the Big Ten Tournament  Championship.
