The 2021-22 regular season was a stellar one for SEC Basketball and it looks to continue throughout March and possibly into April as well. As the second leading conference in RPI, the SEC began the season with five teams in the Preseason AP Poll and currently has six teams in the top 25  in the NET.

The Auburn Tigers took the Regular Season Championship, a feat that was not foreseen as USA Today Sports Network had the Tigers placing fifth and they started out as No. 7 in the Busting Brackets preseason SEC Power Rankings.  More surprising than the play of Auburn, was the play of Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe as he averaged over 17 points and 15 rebounds per game.

The SEC Tournament is sure to pick up where its regular season left off with conference-leading scorers Scotty Pippen Jr and JD Notate having the ability to carry a team to victory single-handedly.  The winner of the SEC Tournament could very well end up with a No. 1 seed come Selection Sunday, and if not, they’re very well could be more than one SEC member remaining come the Final Four.

Whether you prefer individual player performances or want to follow a team throughout March, the SEC Tournament is a good place to find what you are looking for. From favorites to underdogs the SEC Tournament begins Wednesday, March 9, from Amalie Arena.
