Indiana loses a close battle with Iowa in Big Ten Tournament semifinals

Indiana made it all the way to the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament but couldn’t defeat the Iowa Hawkeyes. Did they do enough to earn an at-large bid?

The Iowa Hawkeyes beat the Indiana Hoosiers, 80-77. The Hawkeyes were led by Keegan Murray. Murray scored 32 points on 64 percent shooting. Indiana was led by Trayce Jackson-Davis. Davis scored 31 points on 71 percent shooting.

The Hawkeyes won this game behind their three-point shooting. Iowa shot 43 percent from three. One of the key shooters for Iowa was Murray. Murray had 24 points on three-pointers and shot 80 percent from three.

Indiana shot terribly horrible from the three-point line. The Hoosiers shot 5 of 19 from the three-point line. Miller Kopp had a really tough game shooting the three-ball. Kopp shot 28 percent from the three-point line.

Indiana took an early lead to start the game. The Hoosiers had a 15-3 lead with 13 minutes to go in the first half. Behind Murray’s three-pointers, Iowa tied the game with around six minutes to go. Trayce Jackson Davis responded and made it a 6-point Hoosier lead going into halftime.

The Hoosiers kept it a 5-point game until Keegan Murray created an Iowa comeback. Iowa made the game a three-point game with around eight minutes to go. The Hoosiers responded and after Miller Kopp made two threes, Indiana had a 9-point lead with around five minutes to go.

Iowa made a comeback behind Murray and Jordan Bohannon tied the game with multiple threes. The game was tied with around two minutes to go. Iowa took a four-point lead behind a Murray and Bohannon three. Indiana was down four with a minute. Quickly, Xavier Johnson got fouled and made both free throws.

On the Next possession, Trey Galloway got a steal and Johnson made the layup to tie the game up. Although the Hoosiers played solid defense on the last possession of the game, Bohannon made an incredible three from the logo to win the game. It was one of the best shots in Big Ten tournament history.

Quite Simply, Indiana could not stop the Hawkeyes from three. Additionally, the Hoosiers could not make their threes in this game.

The Indiana Hoosiers seem to be locks for the NCAA tournament. The Hoosiers will most likely avoid the first four in Dayton. Indiana seems to be an 11 seed in the NCAA tournament. While the Hoosiers will most likely avoid the first four in Dayton, it is not completely unlikely.

The Iowa Hawkeyes will look to win against the winner of Purdue/Michigan State in the Big Ten Championship game. The Hawkeyes will look to win their Big Ten Championship game since 2006. Iowa will look to build and possibly get a four/five seed in the NCAA tournament with a victory.
