3. Expect several players to look for the exit, as well as the recruiting class

In today’s era of the transfer portal, players are now able to leave a situation they don’t want to be in. And I would say that your coach being fired is definitely something that qualifies someone leaving.

Far as the players on the current roster, star forward, and SEC 6th Man of the Year Tari Eason is likely going pro. Senior Darius Days will be moving on as well. The two other key players to watch are freshmen Brandon Murray and Efton Reid. There are several teams previously linked to them in past recruitments that would love to go after either of them if they were to enter the portal.

But all eyes will be on the four current commits in the next two classes.

One has to imagine that all of these guys will re-open their recruitments, regardless of who they hire and especially if they take their time. There’s a chance that the new head coach can get them again but for guys like Traore and Phillips, there are other SEC programs such as Alabama and Arkansas that were reportedly in play last time around and could easily be in play in the coming weeks if they become free agents again.

And this is going to be the biggest issue LSU Basketball faces in the future. Will they be able to pull in the top-50 talent that Will Wade was able to do in the past? In an SEC that has become one of the toughest leagues in college basketball, the Tigers could fall to the middle of the pack and struggle to make the NCAA Tournament on a consistent basis.

The sudden change has put this program in a complete spin and how they recover will determine their success in the next few years.
