Villanova vs Creighton: 2021-22 Big East title game preview, TV schedule

Villanova looks to keep their chances alive for a two/one seed, while Creighton looks to move to the nine/eight seed for the NCAA tournament in the Big East championship game.

The Villanova Wildcats come into this game after a nailbiter with UConn.  The Wildcats started this tournament by surviving a game against St. John’s. The Wildcats have won six Big east postseason titles.

In the UConn win, the Wildcats had a huge performance from Brandon Slater. Slater had 15 points on 62 percent from the field. Additionally, Jermaine Samuels had 21 points on 41 percent shooting.

The Creighton Bluejays come into this game after destroying the top-seeded Providence. The Bluejays started this tournament by surviving a game against Marquette. Creighton has never won a Big East postseason title.

In the Providence win, Creighton had almost the whole starting lineup with double figures. Alex O’Connell had 18 points on 50 percent shooting. Additionally, Arthur Kaluma had 17 points on 50 percent shooting.

In the first game between these two squads, Creighton ran away with the game late. The Bluejays had a lead in the late stretch of the second half and never looked back. Ryan Hawkins led Creighton with 19 points on 42 percent shooting.

The second game between these two squads was the complete opposite. Villanova took an early lead and never looked back. The Wildcats almost doubled the Bluejay’s score. The final score was 75-41. The Wildcats were led by Justin Moore. Moore had 22 points on 40 percent shooting.

The result will be much like the former. Although Villanova has way more talent than Creighton, one must respect the Bluejays Big East Tournament run so far. Despite the gap in talent, this game will be a close affair. The Bluejays will at least cover the spread in this game.

Despite the fact the Wildcats spilt the season series with the Bluejays, Villanova will take the win. The number of scorers that the Wildcats have will be too much for the Bluejays. While Creighton will lose this game, they should be very proud of their run in the Big East Tournament. Their run in the Big East Tournament is the reason why they are securely in the NCAA Tournament (As an at large bid obviously)
