Every NCAA Basketball player dreams of this moment and the moment has finally arrived. The 2022 NCAA Tournament bracket has been revealed and 68 teams are about to battle their way through the latest edition of March Madness. Though the pandemic remains impactful around the world, this college basketball season has felt a lot more normal these past few weeks, with the pain of the cancellation of the 2020 Tournament long in the past.

There will be all sorts of articles and thoughts about the 68 teams in this year’s NCAA Tournament, but today’s focus will be solely on their head coaches. The 68 men who lead their teams into March Madness all have different stories and histories to share. Some are legends of college basketball while others are only just getting their coaching careers started.

We already know that this is Mike Krzyzewski’s final dance and that Scott Drew will be looking to repeat last year’s national title. However, some young coach is going to lead a team on a Cinderella run in the coming weeks and become a household name.

Our task today is ranking all 68 of the NCAA Tournament head coaches from top to bottom. Note that this ranking is completely based upon the head coach; this is not a ranking of the teams or the programs as a whole. Just because a program is a top-seed doesn’t mean you’ll find that coach near the very top of the rankings.

These rankings are certainly not a perfect art, and there’s no reason to look too deeply into why your favorite team’s head coach isn’t as high as you wanted. There’s no specific metric or analytic rating, but things like record and previous postseason success certainly play a major role. It also needs to be said that all 68 of these head coaches have done a phenomenal job in getting their programs into this year’s NCAA Tournament, no matter who they are or in what position their program may be.

Without wasting any time, let’s get right into these rankings.
