Trayce Jackson-Davis leads Indiana over Wyoming in First Four matchup

Indiana beats Wyoming in the first four behind their superstar. Additionally, Wyoming hurt themselves in this loss with their number of turnovers. How did fellow big man superstar Graham Ike stack up to Trayce in this matchup?

The Indiana Hoosiers beat the Wyoming Cowboys by 8 to advance to the Round of 64. The final score of the game was 66-58. The Hoosiers were led by Trayce Jackson-Davis. Davis scored 29 points on 62 percent shooting. Wyoming was led by Graham Ike. Ike scored 17 points on 50 percent shooting.

Davis had an amazing first half. Not only was he creating a lot of offensive opportunities, additionally he was drawing lots of fouls. This forced the Cowboys into foul trouble. Jordan Geronimo was another solid big for the Hoosiers. Geronimo had 15 points on 63 percent shooting.

Wyoming struggled with ball security in this game. The Cowboys had 19 turnovers in this affair. Ike struggled mightily in the first half. Wyoming star big man only had three points in the first half. Additionally, Ike had foul trouble in the second half. This required him to sit during the stretch run of the second half. In this game, Davis was the better big man of the two.

This game was very close early on. Both teams struggled to score.  With only three minutes left in the first half, the score was 22-21 Indiana. This was a very low-scoring game in the first half. Jordan Geronimo and Davis led the Hoosiers to take a five-point lead at halftime.

In the second half, the Hoosiers took an even bigger lead. Indiana led by nine after a Davis layup with less than nine minutes to go. The Cowboys trimmed the lead to six points. It seemed like Wyoming would come back until Davis and Geronimo again came up with huge buckets to make it a 9-point game again with two minutes to go.

In the last two minutes of the game, the Hoosiers were able to hold Wyoming to eight points. This secured the victory for the Hoosiers. This is Indiana’s first victory in the NCAA tournament since 2016. The Hoosiers play St Mary’s on Thursday at 7:20 in the Round of 64.
