Notre Dame Basketball: Keys to upsetting Texas Tech in Round of 32
1. Make double-digit three-pointers again
If you have read my keys to the games so far this NCAA Tournament (or during the regular season) then this key should not surprise you one bit. Notre Dame has been a “live by the three, die by the three” for basically the whole year. If you are able to take that away from this Irish team than the majority of the time you are going to win the matchup. The game against Rutgers is one of the times they did not shoot it extremely well from deep and still were able to pull it out with a victory.
The Irish are now 15-1 on the season when they get to double figures in made three-pointers in a game. Notre Dame was able to knock down exactly ten in their win against Alabama. Alabama is a really good team, but guarding the three-point line was not one of their strengths this year for them. Texas Tech is the opposite where they are just a tough-nosed group who really just get after it on the defensive end.
The Red Raiders are the 63rd best team in the country defending the three-point line, so Notre Dame definitely will have to work for different looks and sets on Sunday night. Notre Dame has faced good defenses this year, but will have to bring their hard hat and lunch pal for this game against Texas Tech on both ends, but definitely the offensive end.
Notre Dame is playing with great confidence and swagger right now. If they are able to hit double-digit threes the record this year backs up they should be able to win this contest against Texas Tech. Have to wait until Sunday to see how it all plays out.
