The coaching carousel in NCAA basketball continues to spin. There are a few major jobs that are still open, with the latest one reportedly filled as the Seton Hall gig (unsurprisingly, the job is Shaheen Holloway’s to lose, probably since the day Saint Peter’s knocked off Kentucky).

This has been one of the wildest coaching cycles in recent memory, with several major jobs coming open during the season. It’s easy to forget, but one of the cycles most significant hires happened a year ago, when Coach K handed the keys to assistant Jon Scheyer to take over the Duke job after this season.

A few other major schools will also have new coaches next season. Florida, Georgia, Kansas State, Louisville, LSU, Maryland, Mississippi State, Missouri, Seton Hall, South Carolina, and Xavier are the biggest jobs to change hands this offseason.

It can be difficult to look past the high-profile jobs, but there were plenty of intriguing hires during this cycle, with a few more to go. As of this writing, jobs are still open at Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Chattanooga, Cleveland State, George Washington, Georgia State, La Salle, Lafayette, Miami (OH), Sacramento State, San Diego, and Western Michigan.

The success of any of the hires won’t be known for at least a couple of years, but we live in a world of instant reaction. There’s no time to waste in ranking the coaching changes.

So let’s take a quick shot at the five best hires of the 2022-23 offseason.
