Kansas Basketball was down by 15 at the half against UNC in the National Championship game. How did the Jayhawks come back to win?

Kansas Basketball was down 15 at halftime due to one reason. The Jayhawks could not shoot at all during the first half. Kansas went almost the later part of the first half without a field goal. UNC on the other hand was very excellent from the floor.

The Jayhawks came with new energy in the second half. They immediately went on a 6-0 run to start the second half. After Caleb Love hit a three for UNC, Kansas cut the deficit even more to 6 points behind Christian Braun and Jalen Wilson. After Bacot got fouled and made one of two free throws, Kansas cut the deficit even more.

Kansas cut the deficit and tied the game behind Braun and Ochai Agbaji. The game was tied with a little less than 11 minutes. Kansas started to take the edge after Remy Martin’s expected scoring outbreak happened. Martin made two crucial threes down the stretch to give Kansas a three-point lead with less than 2 minutes remaining.

David McCormack would make two crucial baskets to give Kansas the win. UNC would struggle to shoot the ball at the end of the game.

Despite having a lot of offensive energy from Puff Johnson, UNC would struggle to score during the second half. UNC only had 29 points during the second half. Quite simply, it seemed like the Tar Heels couldn’t find any way to score in the beginning stages of the second half.

On the other hand, Kansas would be great in the beginning stages of the second half. Kansas would shoot amazing in the early stages. Kansas would shoot 13 of 19 during the first 10 minutes of the second half.

Quite simply, this was a game of two parts. In both parts, one team couldn’t shoot the ball. In the first half, Kansas struggled. In the second half, UNC struggled. The difference ended up being the fact that UNC was not able to recover in the later stages of the second half, while Kansas kept pace with UNC during the early stages of the first half.
