NCAA Basketball: 10 teams that should target transfer Kenneth Lofton Jr.
Arkansas Razorbacks
It’s been a huge week for the Razorbacks, landing Rhode Island transfer bigs, Makhel and Makhi Mitchell, as well as Arizona State forward Jalen Graham. You would think that would finalize the roster, even after Au’Diese Toney elected to enter the NBA Draft. But there’s still the fate of Jaylin Williams, the star big man for the team who is reportedly 50/50 on whether to stay to leave.
If Williams goes, will Arkansas be fine with starting Graham at the five-spot? Considering that they’re currently a way-too-early preseason top-3 team for next season, why not have a backup play in case he stays in the draft? There are plenty of quality centers in the transfer portal, and Coach Eric Musselman has a history of succeeding with undersized lineups so the 6’7 Lofton wouldn’t be an issue with him.
Auburn Tigers
Another SEC program that could be after Lofton is Auburn, which will be losing the nation’s shot-blocker Walker Kessler to the NBA Draft. Backup bigs Jaylin Williams and Dylan Cardwell are solid but having a veteran in Lofton would help boost the frontcourt.
The Tigers have five-star forward Yohan Traore to replace Jabari Smith and the return group of guards will keep them in the mix in the SEC next season. Adding a scoring big such as Lofton would balance out the offense and turn them into a serious contender in NCAA Basketball, despite losing such as good frontcourt.
