Texas Longhorns

Coach Chris Beard didn’t have the greatest level of success with transfers this past season, especially in the frontcourt. And Tre Mitchell is out of the program, while Dylan Disu didn’t have much success in his own right. That leaves Disu and 6’7 forward Christian Bishop so expect them to add 1-2 more bigs in the portal.

Although Lofton may not solve the height issue on paper, he would give Texas a legitimately good offensive option to work with, something they didn’t have last season. And with Timmy Allen potentially coming back and five-star freshman guard Arterio Morris joining, this could be a really good team in which Lofton would be the “missing piece”.

Texas A&M Aggies

The Aggies seemingly came out of nowhere to almost make the NCAA Tournament, before making a run in the NIT to win 27 games total and overachieve overall. They’re a roster with not a lot of size, with 6’7 forward Henry Coleman playing most at the five-spot. Putting Lofton in the mix would add much-needed scoring and rebounding in an SEC that features a down of quality frontcourt players.

Playing in the SEC can boost a player’s NBA Draft stock, with examples including Walker Kessler, Oscar Tshiebwe, JD Notae, and Tari Eason. There are other options in the conference Lofton could go to but Texas A&M can allow him to be featured instead of a role player and it also enables him to play back in Texas.
