526. . . . Gators . 7. team

The Gators have a new head coach in Todd Golden, formerly of San Francisco. And so far, he’s done a solid job at rebuilding the roster, adding Belmont guard transfer Will Richard and LSU wing transfer and former top-50 prospect, this past week.

But in even better news, Florida will have star forward Collin Castleton back for one more year. The 6’11 center averaged a team-high 16.0 ppg and 9.2 rpg this past season and was an All-SEC performer. His presence, combined with some good incoming guards, should make them an NCAA Tournament in 2023.

So where would Broome fit in all of this? That’s going to be a theme throughout this article, considering the bigs that are “currently” on the respective rosters. However, assuming everyone does stay, the Murray State transfer fits with some better than others.

In the case of Castleton and Broome, I don’t see how they can play with one another on the court. Both are natural “5s” that don’t spread the floor, so the spacing would be a big problem. Defensively, Broome would be able to handle power forwards who can spread the floor better but would that be better for his game? Plus, without knowing who the starting guards will be in the offense, Florida’s offense could look like a complete mess.

Now, the same thing may be said with the other rosters in this list but they either don’t have a first-year head coach or a proven track record that includes deep NCAA Tournament runs. The Gators just don’t make much sense here.
