40. Rob Phinisee – Senior

The senior guard had a terrible offensive season last year. He saw his minutes cut, and his offensive shooting percentages and usage ratings were cut in half. Phinisee did not do well with the competition at point guard. He brings a lot to the table for a low mid-major. He has been through it all, he has won a lot of games at Indiana and he has seen two different coaches and perspectives.

The senior guard is down to two schools currently in Cincinnati and Butler. He will be role player with both of those schools but will provide the needed experience and leadership to the guards on both of those teams. Phinisee doesn’t turn the ball over much and that is a huge asset for a backup point guard.

39. Rudi Williams – Senior

It is hard not to gush about the offensive ability of the senior guard. He spent one year at Kansas State and then transferred to Coastal Carolina where he thrived. Anyone who has not watched the Chanticleers play, they play at a high tempo and get us as many shots as possible. The senior guard was a great player in that system as he was extremely efficient. He shot 51% from the floor and 45% from deep. His shooting alone is going to get him a look for a power five school again.

Even though he took a lot of threes, he was also able to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim and when he did it usually ended up with him getting fouled. Williams is a good option to go power five again and he can score and even if he doesn’t have to be the main offensive threat, he will take good shots and make most of them.

38. Camren Wynter – Senior

The senior guard did get a chance to play in the NCAA tournament in the 2020-21 season when he helped lead the Drexel Dragons to the tournament. Wynter still must play his Covid year so he has decided to play it at a different school. The point guard is a stat sheet stuffer and is at his best when he is given the freedom to make plays in the offense.

Wynter is a point guard so he is going to get the keys to the offense, and he will stay as a point guard at his next school. He rarely turns the ball over he only averages about 3 turnovers per game and averages 5 assists per game over his career. Wynter didn’t have a great offensive year, by his standards anyway. Expect a season closer to his career averages.

37. Ryan Young – Junior

Northwestern does not have a rich basketball history at all, but lately, they have had some talented kids come through that program. Young is a big man who had some big games at Northwestern. The thing with Young is that he is not ever going to start for the Wildcats which is a big part of why he decided to enter the portal, he believes he can start and contribute.

I do think he can start and contribute somewhere else as well. Young is very interesting because he is not the best athlete in the world, but he is a great post player because of his fundamentals and his soft hands. He is big so it is easy for him to do work in the paint and get rebounds.

36. Eric Williams – Senior

The Oregon Ducks did not have the season anyone was expecting as they failed to make the tournament. One of their most athletic and most experienced players is now in the portal. Williams is a good shooter from deep and extremely athletic. He has had some highlight-reel dunks over his career.

Williams isn’t going to be the most efficient scorer in the world, but he is one of the most explosive scorers in the country. A lot of his scoring comes from dunks or three-pointers and he is a tremendous offensive rebounder which sets up his teammates and leads to easy baskets for him.

35. Dylan Penn – Senior

The point guard is one of the most exciting players to watch in the portal. Penn is a great player who is also an unknown because of the school that he played for. The senior guard played at Bellarmine, and Bellarmine is still going through its transitional period, so they were not eligible for the NCAA tournament even though they won the Atlantic Sun tournament. The point guard is not a good three-point shooter and doesn’t take them, but he is efficient when he has the ball in his hands.

Penn describes himself as an Old Man Game as he is quick and gets in the lane with ease and rebounds from his guard position extremely well. He can blow by defenders easily and get easy looks at the basket. He is also a pure passing point guard as he averaged about 5 assists over his two-year division 1 career. The point guard is not short on suitors and is going to a power five and likely a tournament contender.

34. Ben Vander Plas – Senior

The forward does not get nearly enough credit for the resurgence of the Ohio Bobcats program. He was a huge factor in Ohio making the run to the NCAA tournament last year and it was all the talk about Jason Preston and Mark Sears. The senior big man was one of the best players in the MAC during his time at Ohio. He is a stretch who will step and shoot threes.

Vander Plas has shot over 100 threes every year he has been in college. He shot almost 200 of them last year and in his career, he shoots 33% from deep and on top of his ability to shoot threes, he is still a big man who works in the post and he does have a penchant for getting fouled. He is a great offensive player and can hold his own rebounding. Vander Plas is a great player who should get a look at some power fives.

33. Landers Nolley II – Junior

The former Memphis guard is a very confounding player. He has moments when he looks like the best player on the floor and then he has other moments when he doesn’t handle adversity well at all. This season he lost his starting spot and his numbers suffered. In his first season at Memphis, he was the best player on the floor and on some nights and one of the best shooters in the country.

I still believe that the guard is one of the best shooters in the country. He only shoots 34% over his career from deep but he is streaky and can change a game when he is on one of his hot streaks. Nolley has had a weird career in the fact that he went from dominating the touches at Virginia Tech, to a coaching change that led him to Memphis and then saw his role turn into a bench player. Nolley II is a better player when he is the alpha on offense.

32. Jermaine Couisnard – Junior

There is not another player in the entire portal who mirrors the personality of their former head coach more than Couisnard. The guard is one of the toughest players in the portal and he is a natural-born leader.

He has a knack for the clutch shot and is going to give you 100% every time he steps out on the floor, that is why his offer list in the portal includes a ton of teams who win and always play hard. Couisnard isn’t going to do anything flashy but he makes so many winning plays and demands respect from everyone who encounters him. There is a lot to like with this player.

31. Jahmir Young – Junior

Charlotte is not a program that has won a lot of games over the last decade, it is going to be harder now that they lost the 20 point per game scorer in Young. Young is an elite scorer, he is efficient, he makes a ton of threes and gets to the free throw line a ton. He just recently entered the portal so his list of offers isn’t clear yet, but I believe it will be impressive, very impressive.

Young is going to score wherever he goes and the way he plays he will demand the touches and demand the ball. The Charlotte program doesn’t provide much exposure for the guard and he is going to make sure that that changes. He can score and will likely average 20 per game at his next spot.
