There are certain NCAA Basketball teams picking up key transfers this offseason in their quest to compete for championships for next season. Even though some teams have lost players as they have entered the transfer portal, they have also been able to gain some student-athletes that can help them compete night in and night out next season.

These power rankings this offseason will be measured on programs that have benefitted the most in improving their teams for the 2022-2023 season. Many student-athletes continue to enter the transfer portal for various reasons and certain basketball programs embrace the transfer portal while some head coaches complain about what it is doing to the game of college basketball.

Regardless of the opinions on the impact of the transfer portal and how it is affecting the landscape of NCAA basketball, a team can either be greatly impacted negatively by key players leaving their program or a team can add important players from the transfer portal to increase their chances of success in the upcoming season.

You will notice at this time in mid-April that teams like LSU and Missouri are not in the initial team transfer power ranking even though they were able to get student-athletes to transfer and continue their education and play at these two SEC university programs. LSU for example still has nine players in the portal and some of them have already committed to transferring to another program following the departure of previous head coach Will Wade.

Missouri has six players who entered the transfer portal after the departure of their previous head coach Cuonzo Martin and like some of those players at LSU, some of the former Tiger players have already committed to a new program. However, both schools can be included in the next team transfer power rankings if they continue to add key players to their program for the upcoming season.

Here is a look at the initial team transfer ranking for the 2022 offseason.

. . Razorbacks . 1. team. 524.

Incoming Transfers: Jalen Green (Arizona State), Trevon Brazile (Missouri), Makhel Mitchell (Rhode Island), and Makhi Mitchell (Rhode Island)

Entered the Transfer Portal: Khalen Robinson, Connor Vanover, and Chance Moore (Missouri State)

Key offseason takeaways: Even though Arkansas appears to be losing three players to the transfer portal, they brought in two immediate impact players in Green and Brazile as well as two other players from Rhode Island that will help the Razorbacks for the 2022-23 season. Arkansas with maybe the exception of Duke has the top incoming recruiting class for this upcoming season.

The Razorbacks have three five-star recruits coming to campus in Nick Smith, Jordan Walsh, and Anthony Black as well as three four-star, top 100 recruits coming to Fayetteville to play for head coach Eric Musselman. Arkansas more than likely will be the No. 1 ranked team once the preseason rankings come out this Fall.
