6. TCU Horned Frogs

Davis was originally a Horned Frog as a freshman and the fact that they’re one of his finalists proves that there isn’t any bad blood between the player and head coach Jamie Dixon. The team is coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance and after Mike Miles pulled a 180 and elected to return for another year, could set up one of the best backcourts in the country next season.

The concern is how Damion Baugh, TCU’s leading passer, fits in. It could create a backcourt trio with him and both Miles and Davis that would be offensively imposing but none of those guards are bigger than 6’3 so defensively it could cause issues. Plus, Davis could very well have to play off the ball a lot more than he’d like compared to those two returning guards. Now if Baugh opts to stay in the NBA Draft, that would change how the Frogs fit amongst the finalists.

5. Kansas Jayhawks

Arizona State transfer Remy Martin went to Kansas in hopes of winning a national title and it worked out. So Davis, who may be an even better point guard overall, could come in and start for the Jayhawks at the one-spot, with little competition. The other ball-handlers on the roster include Joseph Yesufu, Dajuan Harris, and Bobbi Pettiford.

My issue is that the NCAA is getting closer and closer to potentially handing out sanctions to the Jayhawks for what’s been many years of investigations for alleged recruiting violations. If a postseason ban were to occur, Davis, who only has one season of eligibility left, would be screwed completely. Kansas has been quiet in the portal so far but Davis would be a great pickup. However, the dark cloud surrounding them off the court will affect them negatively.
