NCAA Basketball: Top 10 storylines of second week of 2022 offseason
4. All-time scorer Antoine Davis leaves Detroit Mercy
In an era where it’s rare for stars to stay all four years at a specific program, Antoine Davis of Detroit Mercy proved to be even rarer. He came out the gate as one of the best scorers in NCAA Basketball, averaging 26.1 ppg as a freshman. The 6’1 guard and son of team’s head coach Mike Davis led the Horizon League in scoring all four years and became the first-ever player in the Horizon to be an all-conference performer each season.
Davis averaged 24.6 ppg and 4.3 apg in 110 games played and is currently 22nd all-time in overall points scored. But the team never won more than 14 games in a season and was nowhere close to making the NCAA Tournament. So after this season was done, the question was whether or not Davis would come back for a 5th year or go pro.
Turns out, the answer was neither.

It was a surprise to see Davis leave his father at Detroit and become a free agent but the Titans weren’t going to be competitive next year in the Horizon League and now, the scoring star can play on a much bigger stage for a more notable program.
Currently, visits are being reportedly set for Kansas State, BYU, Maryland, and Georgetown. Could one of them get a 25 ppg scorer?
