NCAA Basketball: Top 15 pending decisions for 2022 NBA Draft
14. F Keve Aluma – Virginia Tech Hokies
2021-22 stats: 15.8 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.9 apg
Aluma has been one of the more successful transfers of the past couple of years, going from a low-scoring role player at Wofford to a two-time All-ACC forward with the Hokies. He singlehandedly accelerated Virginia Tech’s rebuilding process, making the NCAA Tournament in each of the past couple of seasons.
Aluma has been the leading scorer of the Hokies and he and fellow senior Justyn Mutts created one of the better frontcourts in the ACC. The issue at times was an inconsistent backcourt that needed time to get things going before the late-season run that allowed them to make the NCAA Tournament.
The star Hokie has been in NCAA Basketball for five years, due to taking one season off due to past transfer redshirt rules. So if Aluma were to come back, that would be a 6th season. That would be a tough commitment compared to going to get paid but Aluma isn’t on any projected NBA Draft boards.
Without Aluma, Virginia Tech will have to find some production in the transfer portal, considering that they also lost starting guards, Storm Murphy and Nahiem Alleyne. But with him, the team will have a featured piece to work with next season.
