One of the best freshmen in NCAA Basketball this past season was Tyrese Hunter, a former top-100 prospect that choose Iowa State over several other power conference options. He joined a program coming off a 2-22 season and went through a coaching and roster change, with little expectations.

But the Cyclones became one of the biggest overachieving successes in recent memory, going 22-13 overall and not only making the NCAA Tournament but advancing to the Sweet 16. Leading scorer Izaiah Brockington played a major role in the success but also played a key part was Hunter, who averaged 11.0 ppg and 4.9 apg.

The freshman played all 35 games at around 32 mpg, with seven games of at least 15 points. Hunter’s scoring was inconsistent but he did have two games of double-digit assists, while also being a quality defender. If his shooting percentages (39% from the field, 27% from deep, 68% from the free throw line) can improve, it wouldn’t be a surprise that the 6’0 guard ends up as a future NBA prospect.

But for now, Hunter is a prospect in the transfer portal after officially leaving Iowa State. The freshman instantly became one of the top targets available, with any high-major program needing another ball-handler showing interest.

But now just six programs remain in the picture, all of which offer different things for Hunter. But which of these six teams are the best potential fits for the talented point guard? Here’s who I would rank the options ahead of a big future decision.
