NCAA Basketball: Analyzing the 10 teams in play for transfer Baylor Scheierman
Arkansas Razorbacks
The Razorbacks have already landed a five-star prospect and four frontcourt transfers this offseason but head coach Eric Musselman is addicted to the transfer portal at this point and will of course be after the latest star transfer. But hear me out, it actually makes sense why Arkansas would be interested in Scheierman. The backcourt features Devo Davis and a bunch of freshmen guards and there’s a question as to whether or not the shooting will hold on.
Having a veteran and proven shooter like Scheierman would be big for the Razorbacks but it would come at the expense of guys like Jordan Walsh or Anthony Black, who may end up being better SEC players than him. The roster is all but set once big man Jaylin Williams decides his future and while the former Jackrabbit would add to the already great depth, I doubt they’ll truly be in the picture at the end.
Clemson Tigers
The Tigers lost all three starting guards this offseason and then lost Princeton transfer Jaelin Llewellyn after he briefly committed to them last week. They did make up for it by landed former Baylor commit and four-star guard Dillon Hunter and Boston College transfer Brevin Galloway. They still have room at the small forward position and assuming forwards PJ Hall and Hunter Tyson both return, Scheierman would complete what would be a solid starting five lineup in the ACC.
That being said, I’m still not sure if Clemson would still be good enough to make the NCAA Tournament, something Scheierman has been used to at South Dakota State. The Tigers aren’t a bad NCAA Basketball program but for a player that could go just about anywhere in the country, it’s hard for me to envision them being a contender here either.
