Creighton Bluejays

Despite being one of the youngest teams in NCAA Basketball last season, Creighton’s core showed a ton of potential for the future. The group of Ryan Kalkbrenner, Arthur Kaluma, Ryan Nembhard, and Trey Alexander will be back and all that’s missing is a starting wing to replace sharpshooter Alex O’Connell.

An argument can be made that Scheierman would be an upgrade over O’Connell and would round out the starting lineup to become one of the best next year. And Creighton is one of the two local options for the transfer to consider and he’d have a large role in what would be a preseason Final Four contender. This is an option that makes a lot of sense and could be a darkhorse to win his signature.

Duke Blue Devils

The Blue Devils recently landed 6’6 Harvard wing transfer Kale Catchings for the purpose of bench depth but with freshman guard Trevor Keels off to the NBA, the team could use some more backcourt depth as well. Five-star incoming guard Dariq Whitehead and four-star shooting guard  Jaden Schutt could get big minutes alongside point guard Jeremy Roach on the perimeter but if they aren’t ready, that’ll limit the team’s ceiling for next season.

Besides adding experience and shooting, Scheierman also provides passing assistance and could repeat the same role as Wendell Moore, which helped Roach out more than anyone. His all-around offensive ability could make him a very impactful player among all of these freshmen and gives Duke next to no weakness on the roster. Going from South Dakota State to Duke is one of the biggest leaps one player can make and would provide the young man with the biggest stage possible.
