Some may dispute this, and some may agree but the Villanova Basketball program under former head coach Jay Wright is a Blue Blood program. They were on the cusp under legendary coach Rollie Massimino but were down a little under Steve Lappas. The 21 years under Wright saw Villanova get back to glory and cement themselves as a Blue Blood program. There was no coach who had a better resume over the last 10 seasons than Jay Wright did at Villanova.

Coach Wright was the coach at Villanova for 21 years and in the last 10 he had Villanova playing like one of the best teams in the country every year. The Wildcats had a fantastic recruiting class coming in this year and as of now those recruits are still committed to new coach Kyle Neptune.

I have seen people saying that Wright retiring is bad for the sport and that is preposterous. The sport is going to be just fine, and Wright is just opening the door for a new era for the Villanova Wildcats. Now that I have gotten that off my chest let’s move on to the discussion of the 10 best teams that Wright coached at Villanova.

We all know that basketball in Philadelphia is a big deal and Wright and his teams defined Philly basketball for a long time. He got it done by shooting a ton of threes and playing relentless defense. He always got his players to play hard and they did the right things on the floor. He didn’t need a ton of size; he didn’t always have to win with five stars at every position. He ran his system always and recruited to it.

He has had some magical teams and over the last two weeks, I have watched extensive fil and studied each roster over the last 21 years to bring you the 10 best Villanova Wildcats teams over the last 21 seasons.
