NCAA Basketball: 10 potential options for Milwaukee transfer Patrick Baldwin Jr.
Gonzaga Bulldogs
The Bulldogs have taken on transfers before and turned them into NBA Draft prospects, including Brandon Clarke from San Jose State. The WCC is a step up from the Horizon League but still a conference the immensely talented Baldwin could dominate and put up some big stats. The culture and style of play would also be a boost to the young man as well.
Gonzaga will only be a viable option if starting wing Julian Strawther ends up in the NBA Draft, which I would say is a 25% chance. If he comes back, I doubt this would be a good enough match. But if there’s any room available, the Bulldogs would be a fit that works in many ways for Baldwin.
Illinois Fighting Illini
I have a belief that several Big Ten programs would try to go for Baldwin if he was available, including an Illinois team that is reportedly targeting Texas Tech wing Terrence Shannon Jr. If that falls through, Baldwin would be a great backup option for them. After losing top scorers Kofi Cockburn, Trent Frazier, and Alfonso Plummer, this is a team that needs to find offense somewhere.
Five-star incoming guard Skyy Clark has great potential and sophomore breakout candidate RJ Melendez would make for a strong backcourt for the Illini. Baldwin would have a big role for them on offense and for one of the better head coaches in NCAA Basketball in Brad Underwood.
