Arizona State Sun Devils

The Sun Devils are coming off another disappointing season, finishing under .500 overall. Head coach Bobby Hurley is certainly on the hot seat heading into next year and needed a big offseason to help provide some kind of optimism for the fan base.

And so far, he’s done a solid job. None of the pickups are going to make the top-25 overall incoming transfer list but Arizona State brought in four newcomers from the portal. Two of them are brothers in Devan and Desmond Cambridge. Desmond averaged over 16 ppg in four years at both Brown and Nevada and took over seven three-pointers a game. His younger brother Devan is a 6’6 guard that was injured throughout his time at Auburn but is a capable double-digit scorer at the high-major level.

To replace guards Marreon Jackson, and Jay Heath in the backcourt is Frankie Collins, a former four-star point guard prospect that transferred over from Michigan. He didn’t play much as a freshman but he’s a ball-handler that can facilitate the offense for the Sun Devils. The final newcomer is Warren Washington, a 7’0 center and former teammate of Desmond Cambridge at Nevada. He averaged 10.3 ppg and 6.3 rpg in the past couple of years and gives ASU a true center and someone that can compete in the Pac-12.

If Collins can have a sophomore breakout campaign and the Cambridge brothers can produce, the Sun Devils will have something to work with next season. Plus, Marcus Bagley is back and if healthy, can be a great No. 1 option. This team still has a ways to go but there’s some hope that Hurley can turn things around based on the current roster.
