Learning lessons from the past

As mentioned, the Lindenwood Lions had only been in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) for three years prior to going on the move once again. The transition is familiar territory for Gerdeman and the program and one large similarity across both moves is the sheer uncertainty.

Gerdeman is well aware of the work that must be put in this offseason in order to prepare for other conference opponents. Playing styles, personnel, and previous results must all be studied, but alongside Lindenwood in the transition are fellow GLVC member, The University of Southern Indiana . Gerdeman says that he has been in discussion with USI’s head coach Stan Gouard and their conversations are mutually beneficial.

Both coaching staffs are hoping to follow in the footsteps of former GLVC conference foe, Bellarmine University, who won the Atlantic Sun tournament this past season but was restricted from postseason play. All teams in such a predicament will be serving a four-year ban before the transition is complete, thus Bellarmine was held out from the Big Dance.
