Kansas State Wildcats

After losing Nigel Pack to the transfer portal and missing out on top targets such as Antoine Davis, Kansas State has little depth overall from a roster perspective. In the backcourt, Markquis Nowell is the lead guard, while Mississippi State transfer Camryn Carter played little as a freshman last season.

The Wildcats represent good and bad for Walton. He could get a ton of minutes and a large role for the Big 12 program but the odds of them making the NCAA Tournament next season are slim to none. And unless they keep adding players, it could really get ugly for the team.

Memphis Tigers

The Tigers have landed three transfers this offseason, including UT-Arlington big man Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu. In the backcourt, AAC Player of the Year and former SMU guard Kendric Davis, as well as Elijah McCadden from Georgia Southern. With Lester Quinones still in the NBA Draft process, the team needs to find another guard in case he’s gone.

Shooting is a concern for the Tigers so adding Walton to the backcourt would be big for Davis especially. The AAC program could allow the transfer to shine in the right role, although there have been historically some issues with how head coach Penny Hardaway handles his rosters early on.
