5. G Greg Elliott, Pittsburgh

Greg Elliott comes to the Panthers by way of the Marquette Golden Eagles. While his lengthy tenure with Marquette didn’t go to plan, there’s still time for Elliott to leave a bigger impact on the sport.

Elliott averaged 5.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game over the course of more than 100 games in his Marquette career. This year, he averaged seven points per game, hitting a carer-high 88.7 percent of his free throws.

The guard has shown an ability to flash a three-pointer in the past. He hit 38.6 percent of his threes this season but averaged a whopping 45.5 percent from three the year before. He’s a 40.9 percent three-point shooter for his career.

One concern about Elliott is the ankle. He suffered an injury that sidelined him for most of the summer in 2019 and seems to still bother him, as he was sometimes seen in a walking boot as recently as this year. Having that ankle heal would go a long way towards improved athleticism.

Elliott should bring a much-needed infusion of shooting to the Panthers. He’s also a solid defender and can score in bunches coming off the bench. He would represent an upgrade at the sixth man role, should Elliott assume it upon his arrival.
