6. Seton Hall

If there was a definition for the perfect head-coaching succession plan, then Seton Hall pulled it off this offseason. Kevin Willard departed the program after eleven years to take over at Maryland, but he leaves a successful program in the capable hands of former player Shaheen Holloway, who just took 15-seed Saint Peter’s to an insane run to the Elite Eight. But what does this mean for this year’s Pirates squad?

It’s a team needing to replace Jared Rhoden, Myles Cale, and Bryce Aiken, but one that will get forward Kadary Richmond (8.8 ppg last year) back for this junior year. This lineup is bolstered with transfers, as Holloway landed former Pittsburgh guard Femi Odukale, former Clemson guard Al-Amir Dawes, and also big man KC Ndefo, who played for him at Saint Peter’s. In addition, Jamir Harris, Alex Yetna, and Tray Jackson all return, with each of them expected to take on a bigger role in this lineup.

Seton Hall has a few question marks, that’s for sure, especially with a new head coach and major changes to this rotation. This will at least initially be a transition year for the Pirates, though it’s still a season where this roster can compete in the Big East. It may take a year or two for Holloway to warm up to coaching in the Big East, but he’s got a load of talent all over the court and enough weapons to potentially make some noise later in the year.
