NBA Draft 2022: Final mock draft predictions of all 58 picks
38. San Antonio Spurs – Nikola Jovic (Serbia)
The 6’11 forward has a similar name and comes from the same country as the reigning league MVP. Jovic also has a similar game in that he’s a skilled offensive player that can shoot and pass at a good level. How he fares in other facets of his game will determine his NBA career but the Spurs, who has little skill among their frontcourt players but a long history of success with international prospects, would be a nice fit.
39. Cleveland Cavaliers – John Butler Jr. (Florida State Seminoles)
The Cavaliers currently have some of the most frontcourt depth in the NBA but there’s a good chance that both Kevin Love and Lauri Markkanen aren’t long-term plans for them. If they want to remain big with their lineups, the 7’0 forward Butler would be an even better fit at the small forward position. He has great potential but also needs years to develop properly and Cleveland can allow him to do that while having him as a high-reward lottery ticket in the second round.
40. Minnesota Timberwolves – Ishmael Kamagate (France)
The 6’11 center is one of the better interior defenders in the draft and is 21 years old so he could potentially play in the league right away but also could be stashed overseas too. Minnesota needs a big man that can be a good defender alongside Karl-Anthony Towns in order for the team to reach another level. Kamagate, if his game translates, could be a solid rotational piece.
