NBA Draft 2023: Victor Wembanyama leads way-too-early mock draft
3. Scoot Henderson (PG) – G League Ignite
Henderson averaged 20.7 points, 7.4 boards, and 5.4 assists per 36 minutes for the G League Ignite this past season. Physically, he’s NBA-ready at 6-foot-3 with long arms and an explosive first step. He can elevate and finish at the rim but shot just 17.4% from three on 2.1 attempts per game last season. He has skill as a passer but needs work as a decision-maker.
Defensively, the tools are there, but there will definitely be a learning curve as he makes the jump to the next level. Henderson is not the most NBA-ready player in the class, but his physical gifts and intangibles as an 18-year-old make him a surefire top 10 and likely top-five pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
2. Nick Smith (CG) – Arkansas
Smith is the No. 3 overall player in the class of 2022 per the 247Sports Composite, but his versatility and dynamic offensive ability make him the best collegiate prospect heading into the 2022-23 season. Smith can score from all three levels, is a relentless driver, and is an excellent passer with a high basketball IQ.
That high basketball IQ coupled with consistent effort and good size and length make him an excellent defender as well. Arkansas will be a preseason top 10 team in the country for several different reasons, but the most obvious is that they have the best pro prospect in college basketball.
