2. G John-Michael Wright, Oklahoma State

The former High Point guard averaged 18.4 points per game, yet hasn’t received much attention since transferring to the Cowboys. That should change for John-Michael Wright when the season gets going.

The tenacious guard from North Carolina has been a dynamite scorer for High Point in each of his first three collegiate seasons. He averaged 14.2 points per game during his first season and boosted that up to a career-best 20.7 per game in his second year before taking a slight step back last season.

Wright is solid in other facets of the game too. He has averaged at least 4.4 rebounds per game each season. He has also averaged at least one steal per game and has never shot less than 33 percent from three.

His assists numbers have never been too high and he could use an extra infusion of playmaking. But his versatility and ability to score seemingly at will using his athleticism will make him vital to Mike Boynton’s program.

The 6-foot guard has made the First Team All-Big South squad twice. He often led High Point in numerous categories. He’s a producer, through and through.

Oklahoma State lost a lot of talent to the transfer portal in the offseason. Wright should be one of the biggest reasons the Pokes don’t fall off too much.
