Outgoing transfers: Jalen Gaffney, Rahsool Diggins, Corey Floyd Jr. Akok Akok

Incoming transfers: Nahiem Alleyne (Virginia Tech), Hassan Diarra (Texas A&M), Tristen Newton (East Carolina), Joey Calcaterra (San Diego)

With senior guards, Tyrese Martin and RJ Cole graduating and several underclassmen guards transferring out, the Huskies went to the portal to land four capable backcourt playmakers. The biggest name of the group is Newton, who produced 17.7 ppg, 4.8 rpg, and 5.0 apg last season at ECU.

The 6’5 guard was the breakout star in the AAC, with 32 points in one game against Tulane, four rebounds shy of a triple-double in a road in over South Florida, and nine games last season of at least 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. He very well could come in and start at point guard for UConn next season and put up similar numbers as the league guard.

Diarra was a former top-50 prospect that spent two seasons with the Aggies, averaging 6.0 ppg off the bench. He’s a combo guard that can be a 6th Man for UConn to start but don’t underestimate him being an effective starter either. Calcaterra is a 6’3 from out west that averaged around 10 ppg on 36% three-point shooting and can be a rotational piece as an off-guard.

Alleyne is the key this offseason. He’s a 6’4 off-guard that spent three years as a starter at Virginia Tech, averaging 9.7 ppg on 39% shooting from three-point range. He’s a solid two-way player that can give Huskies good minutes at the 3 and if all four guard transfers can give solid production and helps star center Adama Sanogo, this team will contend for a top spot in the Big East.
