team. 523. . . . Crimson Tide . 15

Outgoing transfers: Jusaun Holt, Juwan Gary, Alex Tchikou, James Rojas, Keon Ambrose-Hylton

Incoming transfers: Dominick Welch (St. Bonaventure), Mark Sears (Ohio)

There were two players that the Crimson Tide got and both of them should have a major impact next season. The first is Welch, a 6’5 guard that averaged 12.3 ppg and a team-leading 6.0 rpg at St. Bonaventure, including 37% shooting from deep on over seven attempts and capable of guard forwards on the defensive end.

Welch has and can play and guard three different positions and is a great off-ball shooter on the perimeter. Alabama’s issue last season was that they had too many guards that needed the ball in their hands. Welch doesn’t have that concern and his defense will be a boost to Alabama.

One guard that does need the ball in his hands is Mark Sears, who was the breakout star at Ohio this past season after taking over for Jason Preston. The 6’1 guard averaged 19.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, and 4.1 apg and led the Bobcats to a regular-season MAC title. Sears consistently put up some lofty stats and can play on and off-ball if needed. He’s also a 41% three-point shooter and had three games of double-digit rebounds.

The Crimson Tide was able to get two of the better transfers this offseason in a revamped backcourt and if Sears can have a big impact as the lead guard, could be a darkhorse team to win the SEC next season.
