Tar Heels . 11. team. 441. . .

Outgoing transfers: Kerwin Walton, Dawson Garcia

Incoming transfer: Pete Nance

The Tar Heels had a great offseason, starting with getting four starters back from a team that went to the national title game and nearly won it all. The one starter that wasn’t back is power forward Brady Manek. They were in position to potentially land multiple options at the four-spot but ultimately got Pete Nance.

The 6’11 forward from Northwestern had a breakout senior campaign. He averaged a team-leading 14.6 ppg and 6.5 rpg, as well as 2.7 apg. Some of his big outings include 21 points versus Illinois, as well as a carerr-high 28 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Maryland.

What makes Nance such an impactful transfer was that he produced very efficient numbers, including 50% from the field and 45% from three-point range. He also is a solid interior defender and can play both the power forward and center positions.

The addition of Nance likely makes North Carolina the No. 1 preseason NCAA Basketball team for next season. So that alone has to put the team in the top-10, even though he’s the only transfer newcomer onto the roster.
