NCAA Basketball: Top 26 team transfer winners from 2022 offseason
No. 10 Bryant Bulldogs
Outgoing transfers: Luis Hurtado, Chris Childs
Incoming transfers: Doug Edert (Saint Peter’s), Earl Timberlake (Memphis), Antwan Walker (Rhode Island), Kvonn Cramer (Hofstra), Tay Mosher (East Carolina), Chauncey Hawkins (St. Francis NY)
It’s been an eventful offseason for the program overall. They finished off their move from the Northeast Conference to the America East, as well as lost the nation’s leading scorer, Peter Kiss (25.2 ppg) to the pro ranks. But head coach Jared Grasso, who is known for making offers to everyone out there in the portal and high school, landed a number of talented players this offseason to revamp the roster.
The biggest name is Earl Timberlake, a former top-40 prospect that was injured at both Miami and Memphis and couldn’t get a large enough role last season. But when healthy, the 6’6 wing is a good scorer and quality passer and may be the most talented player in the America East Conference next season. If it wasn’t for 20 ppg returning scorer Charles Pride, Timberlake would be a favorite to win Conference Player of the Year.
Edert might be the most famous player, thanks to Saint Peter’s Cinderella run to the Elite 8. He came off the bench to average 9.5 ppg and shot 41% from three-point range and adds needed shooting to the roster. Hawkins missed all of last season with an injury but in the two years prior averaged 15.5 ppg and 3.6 apg at St. Francis (NY).
Cramer is a 6’6 forward and solid role player from Hofstra, while Walker averaged around 8.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg in three seasons at Rhode Island. They add depth and size to the frontcourt for the Bulldogs.
While Vermont has been the king of the America East, Bryant could very well come in and take the crown next season, with a roster that on paper, is more talented.
