. . Gators . 7. team. 526.

Outgoing transfers: Tyree Appleby, Keyontae Johnson

Incoming transfers: Kyle Lofton (St. Bonaventure), Alex Fudge (LSU), Trey Bonham (VMI), Will Richard (Belmont)

After head coach Mike White went across the border to Georgia, Todd Golden came from San Francisco and had an immediate impact in terms of the portal. The first pickup was Will Richard, a 6’5 guard/forward that averaged 12.0 ppg and 6.1 rpg. He had 11 games of at least 16 points, including 23 at Samford, as well as a double-double versus Drake.

Richard will be a true sophomore next season and has real breakout potential. If he can play in the SEC and continue developing his three-point shot, could be a star at Florida. Already a star is Kyle Lofton, a four-star starter and multiple-time All-Atlantic 10 point guard. In 116 starts, the 6’3 playmaker has career averages of 13.9 ppg and 5.2 apg and is a legit defender as well.

Trey Bonham is another capable ball-handler, coming off a strong sophomore season that included 13.6 ppg, 4.0 apg, and 48% shooting from the field. He finished last season with 16 straight double-digit outputs, including a career-high 31 points versus Samford.

Alex Fudge is their long-term lottery ticket, averaging a few points and rebounds in 13 mpg off the bench as a freshman. If he can continue developing, the 6’8 forward could take over the four-spot next to Collin Castleton in the frontcourt. The opportunity and minutes are there if he can have a breakout campaign as a sophomore.

The perimeter for the Gators looks strong and they have an All-SEC big man leading the way. Assuming the transfers work out, this team has real NCAA Tournament potential.
