. Aztecs . 6. team. 508. .

Outgoing transfers: Chad Baker, Keith Dinwiddie, Che Evans

Incoming transfers: Micah Parrish (Oakland), Darrion Trammell (Seattle)

Last season, San Diego State was an 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament, despite only having one double-digit scorer (Matt Bradley) on the roster. Having a top-5 overall defense helps but the Aztecs needed to find some more offense to raise its collective ceiling.

They were able to stay out west to find a great scoring guard in Darrion Trammell from Seattle U. He averaged 18.7 ppg and 5.0 apg in two years there and was on the All-Defensive team in the WAC as well. The 5’10 guard had 39 points in his final game last season against Abilene Christian and had 12 games of at least four steals as well.

Trammell and Bradley will become the best backcourt in the Mountain West and gives San Diego State another quality scorer on offense. The other addition is another all-league defender in Micah Parrish, a 6’6 forward from Oakland. He averaged 12.0 ppg and 6.1 rpg as a sophomore, shooting 35% from deep. His long wingspan makes him a great defensive and versatile weapon and he can add offensive firepower as well.

They may just be two mid-major transfers but San Deigo State already returns a lot and just added more offense. They might not be at the level of the 2020 team that was ranked in the top-5 and was set to get a No. 1 seed before the pandemic but this offseason has put them into a position to be close to that.
